History

Sano Nobuyoshi began construction of Sano Castle in 1602 after the Sano were forced to abandon their mountaintop fortress at Karasawayama Castle. In 1607 they completely relocated to Sano Castle. In 1614 their lands were seized and the castle was permanently abandoned.
