History

Tōsenbōbettō-yashiki was the residence of the Rokusho Clan, vassals of Imagawa Yoshimoto who oversaw local religious institutions. The Edo Shogunate confirmed the clan's holdings, and the Rokusho were in place until the abolition of feudalism. The residential compound was situated atop of a river bluff and spanned roughly 100m north-south by 60m east-west; it was located in the vicinity of where the Hiyoshi-sengen shrine is today. The residence was located immediately west of Zentokujijō and was a satellite fortification of that castle.
