History

Toyokawajō is said to be the site of a fortified residence of Oh’e Sadaiwao constructed during the Kamakura period. In the Edo period it became a jin’ya site ran by Shogunal bannerman Mizuno Tadanao, lording a small fief valued at 3,000 koku.
