Wada Yakata (Kanzaki)
Wada-yakata, the fortified residence of the Ōmi-Wada Clan, is now the site of a shrine and rural homes in the village of Wada, Higashi-Ōmi. See also Kanzaki Wadayama Castle and Kanzaki Wadayamako Castle.

History
Wada-yakata was constructed by Wada Sadahide as his residence. Wada Sadahide was the second son of Wada Takanari, who was in turn the second son of Rokkaku Takayori. Wada Takanari, also known as Rokkaku Takanari and, later, Tanemura Takanari, had another son, Tanemura Takayasu, who was lord of nearby Tanemurajō. Wada Sadahide would later move to the Kōka-Wada-yakata, a residence in Kōka, a district in the south of the province. At the foot of the mount of Wadayamajō there is a neighbourhood called Horinōchi, indicating that the yakata originally had a moat of some kind. Wada-yakata was part of a residence-castle combination with a mountain fort redoubt built on Wadayama above. However, this was not Wadayamajō, but Wadayamakojō, Wadayamajō being constructed after Wada-yakata had already been abandoned.
