History

Yamataka-yashiki was located some 500m west of Jissōji-yakata, a fortified manor hall of the Yamataka Clan. Yamataka-yashiki seems to have been an earlier antecedent of the manor hall, but the timeline is not clear. For more information see Jissōji-yakata.

Yamataka-yashiki is a medieval fortified residence site in Yamataka village of Mukawa Township, Hokuto Municipality. Scant ruins remain, and the site is now a shrine, Kōtō-jinja. One castle-blogger says that the remains of a mizubori (moat) can be found in front of Kōtō-jinja, but I couldn't see where. I hope it hasn't been destroyed. Anyway, it soon got too dark to see so I had to give up searching.
