History

Yamazaki-toride was built in 1570 by Yamazaki Yoshiie, a vassal of the Asakura Clan who had come to help fortify the Azai headquarters of Odanijō. For more information see Odanijō.

Yamazaki-toride, also called Yamazaki-maru, is a fortification ruin in the Odani area of Nagahama Municipality. This yamajiro (mountaintop castle) was part of a complex of forts centred upon Odanijō.
