History
There is no clear history of this castle other than it is attributed to the Adachi clan. The castle itself has four clear baileys. The largest is at the base of the mountain where a temple stands today. One is a small graveyard today and the other two are at the top. The main bailey at the top has a small bailey in front of it with a koguchi entrance into the main bailey. The castle also has a nice yokobori and tatebori trench showing that it is fairly well developed for such a small fortification. This was likely a satellite fortification for one of the nearby castles or an outpost similar to Minami Hatta Castle. It sits at a crossroads and could easily watch over the road and valley.
Field Notes
Surprisingly, I had a little energy left in the tank and lots of time before the next bus after tackling Shishiudo Castle so I walked the nearly 2km over to this small castle to visit it before grabbing a different bus route back to Sonobe Station. For such a small satellite fortification the castle was much better than I expected and a worthy way to spend some extra time.
