Fushimi Castle also had little known Sogame (outer defenses) built around much of the castle. This was a large earthen embankment parts of which still survive today. the best location is the Eishunji Temple which retains the original height and depth of the wall and some of the original stone work

Fushimi Castle also had little known Sogame (outer defenses) built around much of the castle. This was a large earthen embankment parts of which still survive today. the best location is the Eishunji Temple which retains the original height and depth of the wall and some of the original stone work that fortified it too. The view from the cemetery at the top of the wall shows it must have been a formidable defense and also offered a great lookout to watch over the surrounding lands.
