History
Tenjinyama Fort was built by Hashiba Hideyoshi to counter Shibata Katsuie's Genbao Castle. It also served to keep watch upon the Hokkoku Kaido for any movement by Shibata. The fort was abandoned after Shibata built a series of forts on a much higher mountain one ridge over. Hideyoshi decided it was too exposed and shifted his front line back to Shinmeiyama Fort. See Battle of Shizugatake for more details.
