Shōrakuji is a temple at the foot of the castle-mount, for which the castle and village are named. The temple's sanmon (main gate) is a surviving relic of the castle. This yashikimon (residence gate) was originally built half-way up the mountain at a place referred to as the Kamiai-yashiki, which was used as a residence for Kyōgoku Dōyo. The yashiki was the kyokan (residential annex) of the castle.
