History

Ogawamatobaokajō was the fortified residence of Honda Masanobu (and possibly Honda Munezawemon though it is not known who he was), who is said to have been ‘the dagger of (Tokugawa) Ieyasu’. It is not known when the fort was first built, but Honda Masanobu lived during the Anshō wars of the 1540s.
