Ogawashimo Castle
Ogawashimojō, also known as Ogawa-Higashijō or just Ogawajō, is a minor fortification site in the Ogawa area of Anjō Municipality; no ruins remain, and the site is now temples and a residential area. History
Ogawashimojō was constructed in 1446 by Ishikawa Masayasu. His son, Chikayasu, became a vassal of the Matsudaira when they were based at Ansho Castle. Thereafter, the next lord, Kiyokane, was a vassal of the Matsudaira when they were based at Okazaki Castle. Later descendants became close to Tokugawa Ieyasu, and it was one of these, Ishikawa Kazumasa, a servant of Takechiyo (Ieyasu) since childhood when they were both hostages of the Imagawa, who would defect to Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1585, and go onto construct Matsumoto Castle in 1593.
