Ojima-jin'ya is a jin'ya site located in Ojima Township, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka Municipality. It has the structure of a small scale castle, complete with multiple baileys, stone-piled ramparts, and a masugata(square)-type gate complex.
These pictures are from my second visit to Ojima-jin'ya. I returned to see the goten (palace) segment which has been restored. The shoin (drawing room) was originally relocated to a site in town for use as a public hall, but it was returned to the jin'ya and restored in late 2024. The jin'ya building had actually been used as a school from 1874, and the shoin was relocated in 1928. It took almost a century, but the shoin finally came home.
Although new materials have also been used in the restoration, an explanatory panel in the shoin said that 90% of materials used date to the Edo period. I don't know if this also includes things like ceramic rooftiles, but, as I mentioned to the guide, that this is much more than in the main keep of Maruoka Castle!
The jin'ya is a designated national historic site, and the shoin is designated as important cultural property.
