A daidokoro or kuri (kitchen hall) from the main bailey palace of Wakayama Castle can be found at Kōonji, a temple in Ôgaito Township, Wakayama Municipality. It was relocated from the castle in 1880, and is now designated as a cultural property of the municipality. The building, which is now the temple's kitchen hall too, is not open to the public, though the interior contains sliding doors made of cedar with geese and tigers painted on them, indicating the former splendour of the Wakayamajō honmaru goten (main bailey palace).
Apparently another portion of the honmaru goten of Wakayama Castle was supposed to be relocated to Kōonji for use as its hondō (main hall), but it did not survive the relocation process due to a storm blowing in, probably during de- or re-assembly. Some of you may know that the Wakayamajō ninomaru goten (second bailey palace) was relocated to Ôsakajō where it was known as the Kishū-goten, but sadly burned down in 1945 during the occupation of that castle by Allied forces.
Besides the kuri shown here, apparently multiple gates and even a tamon-yagura (long turret) also survive off-site from Wakayama Castle, but I did not know about these during my last visit (probably for a while) to Wakayama. The gate is at a temple called Sōzenji in urban Wakayama, but the tamon-yagura is supposedly at a private residence and little details are available for it.
